  1. What is counseling?

Counseling is a time and place for you to work through the struggles you are experiencing in your life with someone who listens, cares, and can offer you helpful information. Counselors help you see what your choices are, what your strengths are, what you can do to face your challenges, and what you can change in your life. I will work with you where you are to help you get to where you want to be. Counseling is a process of facilitating your growth and healing your wounds, so that you can live a healthy and enjoyable life.

  2. How can counseling help me?

Most people experience times in their life that are stormy for one reason or another. Counseling is an opportunity for you to have someone help you find your way through the storm to the solid ground. Depression, anxiety, grieving, relationship conflicts, addictions, traumatic experiences, and identity questions are actually common challenges that many people face at some point, and they can be worked through in order to find a stronger self.

  3. What is Darci like?

I'm a counselor with a love for helping people better understand who they are and how they can be healthy in relationships. I want to provide people with a space to laugh, to cry, to be heard, to explore themselves and their lives, and to be real and accepted for who they are.

  4. My Bachelor of Arts is in Religion and Philosophy from Shorter College and my Master of Arts is in Counseling from Colorado Christian University. I am a member of the American Counseling Association and the Colorado Counseling Association.

    • I'm a mom, a daughter, a friend, an ex-wife, a businesswoman, an artist, a writer, an acting teacher, and a Christian.
    • While I do have a Christian background, I'm respectful of wherever people are in their spiritual journeys.

I created Haven Lighthouse Counseling because I am inspired by lighthouses to provide both a haven from the storms and a dependable source of light and guidance through the storms that we all face in life.

I welcome phone calls inquiring about who I am and what I do, and will be happy to discuss with you what your needs are in your life right now.

  5. What is a counseling session like?

As a counselor, my goal is to make counseling a valuable discussion in a comfortable setting where you can be accepted as you are without facing judgment. We will talk about your life and experiences and pursue self-awareness and understanding of what you have been through. You will gain knowledge of how you can grow and become stronger because of and through your unique journey.

  6. I offer help working through:

    • Depression & Anxiety
    • Grief & Loss
    • Family & Marriage relationships
    • Parenting concerns
    • Life transitions & Recovery
    • Spiritual growth
    • Other life struggles

  7. What is your training?

I have a Master of Arts in Counseling from Colorado Christian University and a Bachelor of Arts in Religion and Philosophy from Shorter College.

  8. Is it Christian-based counseling?

I am a Christian and a mental health counselor. I have a Christian perspective. Your faith can be integrated into your counseling as much or as little as you prefer. Everyone is on a spiritual journey and wherever you are on your journey is respected.

  9. How much does counseling cost?

After the first free session, I offer a sliding scale fee that ranges from $75–$115 and is based on your monthly income.

  10. Do you take insurance?
    • I am happy to provide you with session receipts with appropriate coding if you wish to pursue reimbursement through your insurance. Insurance companies do vary greatly in what they cover.

    • It's important to know that managed care commonly places restrictions on therapy and requires a diagnosis that becomes part of your permanent medical record. This can impact your insurance coverage as well as label you with a diagnosis which may not be beneficial to you and does become a "pre-existing condition."

    • I will be happy to discuss your options and your coverage further with you, so you can find what's in your best interest.

  11. What if I need to cancel my counseling session?

There is no charge for any session cancelled at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled appointment time.

  12. Is what I share with you confidential?

By law, everything we discuss in counseling is confidential because of the counselor/client relationship. There are rare exceptions for legal issues, self-harm issues and minor-child issues. We can discuss these in detail.

  13. Where are you located?

I am in Office F, located inside Redeemer Lutheran Church, 7755 Greenstone Trail, Fort Collins, Colorado (near the corner of Carpenter and Timberline).

  14. How can I schedule an appointment?

Please call me at (970) 310-3775 or email me at DarciLarrarte@gmail.com.

I normally reserve times for new clients each week, so that you can be seen as soon as you prefer.
